WESTconsin Credit Union Spreads Joy and Warmth This Winter Season
December 2025
The week of November 24, WESTconsin Credit Union hosted a “Shop Small, Share Joy” Kindness Counts event. The goal was simple: brighten members’ days and support the small businesses that make up communities. WESTconsin employees surprised members with gift cards to locally owned businesses, turning ordinary moments into unexpected sparks of joy. Across WESTconsin’s membership area, they handed out gift cards to 313 members and supported 47 small businesses.
“At WESTconsin Credit Union, we believe in creating moments that matter. Our “Shop Small, Share Joy” event was about spreading kindness to our members while uplifting the small businesses that make our communities thrive. By surprising members with gift cards to locally owned businesses, we’re not only sharing joy but also reinforcing the importance of shopping small this holiday season.
This year also marked the 15th anniversary of our Mitten Tree fundraiser, a tradition that continues to unite employees and members in the spirit of giving. Over the years, the initiative has raised more than $42,205 and collected over 35,600 warm-weather items for families in need. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re proud to have added thousands more items and dollars to that total, ensuring warmth and comfort for our neighbors during the harsh winter months,” said Jenny Rathke, VP-Member Advocacy.
