Todd Scheel was diagnosed with stage 5 Kidney disease in Jan 2020 during routine lab tests. He quickly started dialysis in Feb and he continues to receive dialysis 3x a week. During the first few months he had to undergo multiple surgeries- thyroid removed, biopsies on his kidney, and a fiscula.  During all this our world entrered the pandemic Covid-19. Which caused on going stress and hardship for him and loved ones.
During this time Todd's wife Jean also began to have medical issues. She was diagnosed with COPD and unfortunately last her battle in June 2020.
Todd has had numerous hospital stays and ambulance rides between Barron and Eau Claire since he was diagnosed.
During this entire ordeal Todd has continued to work at Johnson Truck bodies in Rice Lake. However due to dialysis he is only able to work 3 days a week.
This past month he was given the green light to move forward to receive a transplant. His sister Cindy has offered her kidney and pending further tests, the transplant should happen late fall or early winter this year. For the transplant Todd will need to stay in the hospital for at least a week. Then he will need to find a place to stay for a minimum of 3/4 weeks afterwards for follow up care.
We are hoping to help raise funds to help offset any cost that insurance will not cover and for past medical bills. Todd has always been someone who could be counted on to help out anyone in need.
