Welcome & Our History

Welcome to WESTconsin!

Wow, we made it to 2021! After a year that was so full of challenges, it felt like maybe we’d never get here. Among the tough times, there were many moments, both small and large, that I witnessed with gratitude and pride last year. I remain so very grateful for the continued support of the members and communities WESTconsin serves.  And as we move into this new year, I look forward to all the things we can achieve in 2021!

While it has been encouraging to see the cases of COVID-19 in the area decrease, the safety of our staff and members remains our priority. We will continue to ask employees and members to wear face coverings while in our offices, social distance, and use hand sanitizing stations often. Members are encouraged to use drive-up lanes or online banking options when appropriate. WESTconsin leadership meets regularly to evaluate when we can safely open lobbies and ease face covering and social distancing practices, and we hope we can do this sooner rather than later!

We recognize many of our members prefer to handle many of their banking needs on their own and are so excited to offer more convenience products than ever! Members can easily transfer money to other members on WESTconsin Online or the Mobile App, or send money directly between almost any bank accounts in the U.S. using Zelle. After many member requests, we are thrilled that WESTconsin Credit Union credit and debit cards are now compatible with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay. Using your Digital Wallet, online, in app and in-store checkouts are faster and easier, and reap the same rewards, benefits and protections that come with using your card. We’ve also recently introduced Externally Sourced Loan Payments Online, which lets members pay their WESTconsin loan(s) using funds from a different financial. While we love to see our members in our offices, we hope these products help you move through your day with less stress and more ease!

All member/owners of WESTconsin Credit Union, are invited to view our Virtual Annual Membership Meeting, taking place on Tuesday, March 30 at 6 p.m.! You will hear reports and results of two director elections. Ballots for the director elections may be requested from February 28 through March 20; ballots must be returned no later than March 25, 2021. While we will miss our typical gathering for the annual meeting, we look forward to the opportunity to update you virtually. Please monitor the Annual Meeting page on our website for details.

One of the items I am most looking forward to is a technology upgrade coming later this year! The upgrade will enhance services, improve security, and create a better overall experience for our members. This will be a big undertaking for our employees, and I am so excited to see our very talented staff come together and make this upgrade happen for our members. While the project is still in its beginning stages, please know that we will provide you with information as it becomes available and are committed to communicating with you about any changes that will impact your experience.

For many of our members and employees, the turmoil across the country recently and over the last several months has likely been very troublesome. I hope that as we move forward, we recognize now is a time to come together to help create a better community for everyone. Together, we’re not just strong, we’re community strong!

For as many changes as we have seen in the last year, and the many that are sure still to come, my wishes for all WESTconsin Credit Union members and employees remains the same – success, good health, and happiness in the coming year.

Lora J. Benrud
CEO, WESTconsin Credit Union

We exist to serve our members.

Founded in 1939, WESTconsin Credit Union is one of the region's strongest financial services provider. Our history takes us back to primarily serving the Menomonie area agricultural community, then operating as Menomonie Farmers Credit Union. We expanded in membership base over the next several years and merged with other small credit unions in the region.

In the summer of 1990, we recognized this growth by changing our name to WESTconsin Credit Union. Today, our field of membership footprint includes twenty-six counties across west central Wisconsin and east central Minnesota with offices in Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie, New Richmond, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

We exist to serve the financial needs of our member-owners (account holders) and our communities. As a not-for-profit financial services organization, we are owned and operated by and for our members. Our members receive dividends back on a daily basis in the form of low-fee products and services. In addition, our not-for-profit status enables us to operate at a lower cost than many for-profit institutions, and helps WESTconsin offer competitive loan and savings rates to our members. We're based right here in your community, owned by community members like you. You get a higher level of personal service, and can build a long-lasting relationship with people who can help you find the best financial solutions to your unique needs.

Our Mission

WESTconsin Credit Union is committed to helping our members achieve financial success.

Core Values

We will achieve our mission...

With honesty and integrity in all relationships.

With sincere care for our employees, members, and communities.

By providing quality service that outshines the competition.
