Welcome & Our History

Welcome to WESTconsin!

As we move into a new season, it feels like things are incredibly different but remain the same all at once. While the risks and effects from COVID-19 are still prevalent, we are grateful to see the leaves change and feel the weather turn crisp to help move us into a new phase of living during a pandemic. While many of limitations are still in place, we’ve learned how to maneuver through our days differently and serve our members safely.

One dilemma we faced this year at WESTconsin Credit Union was how to hold our yearly Annual Membership Meeting.  As a cooperative, it is our duty to inform our members of the status of the organization. WESTconsin leadership determined the best way to safely hold our 80th Annual Membership Meeting was to do so virtually. The meeting was held on September 22, 2020 and will likely be one that members and employees remember for a long time, as it was our first ever virtual annual meeting! As we look ahead, we plan to hold our next membership meeting, perhaps virtually, in spring of 2021.

You will continue to see efforts in our offices to help keep our members and employees safe, including all employees and members wear facemasks while in our offices, social distancing with floor markers, acrylic tabletop barriers and hand sanitizing stations. Office visitors will also notice restricted usage of water and/or coffee stations, foot door pulls on restrooms and more. Along with these efforts, we’ve recognized the need to move into a more digital landscape this year. We’ve recently introduced Externally Sourced Loan Payments Online, which lets members pay their WESTconsin loan(s) using funds form a different financial. Save time and schedule payments without needing to call or stop in an office. You can even set up recurring payments, so you don’t miss a payment!

Supporting local communities has been and continues to be important to WESTconsin Credit Union. This fall, we have a variety of events to aid community members! Our fall shredding event will take place on October 13 and 15, at four different office locations. Please visit the events calendar for details! While our Mitten Tree initiative will need to be altered a bit this year, we are excited to collect new mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs, earmuffs, coats, boots and blankets that will be passed along on to community partners to use as needed. Goods and monetary donations will be collected from November 9-21. Please follow our social media accounts or visit the WESTconsin website to learn more about upcoming community events!

On October 15, 2020, along with credit union members around the world, WESTconsin Credit Union will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year’s theme “Inspiring Hope for a Global Community” marks the event’s 72nd anniversary and celebrates hope as a global resource that everyone has the right to feel and experience. Participate in the online celebration and click here for a chance to win Chillin' with WESTconsin gift package and choose a community partner to win $25 from WESTconsin!

Before we know it, snow will surround us, and we will be preparing Thanksgiving dinner and wrapping Christmas gifts. As we move into the holiday season, I wish for you a wonderful holiday season full of celebrations and festivities with your family and friends. As always, if you would like to share your experiences, suggestions, or concerns, I always welcome member feedback. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or (715) 235-3403 ext. 7727.

Lora J. Benrud
CEO, WESTconsin Credit Union

We exist to serve our members.

Founded in 1939, WESTconsin Credit Union is one of the region's strongest financial services provider. Our history takes us back to primarily serving the Menomonie area agricultural community, then operating as Menomonie Farmers Credit Union. We expanded in membership base over the next several years and merged with other small credit unions in the region.

In the summer of 1990, we recognized this growth by changing our name to WESTconsin Credit Union. Today, our field of membership footprint includes twenty-six counties across west central Wisconsin and east central Minnesota with offices in Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie, New Richmond, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

We exist to serve the financial needs of our member-owners (account holders) and our communities. As a not-for-profit financial services organization, we are owned and operated by and for our members. Our members receive dividends back on a daily basis in the form of low-fee products and services. In addition, our not-for-profit status enables us to operate at a lower cost than many for-profit institutions, and helps WESTconsin offer competitive loan and savings rates to our members. We're based right here in your community, owned by community members like you. You get a higher level of personal service, and can build a long-lasting relationship with people who can help you find the best financial solutions to your unique needs.

Our Mission

WESTconsin Credit Union is committed to helping our members achieve financial success.

Core Values

We will achieve our mission...

With honesty and integrity in all relationships.

With sincere care for our employees, members, and communities.

By providing quality service that outshines the competition.
