Welcome & Our History

Welcome to WESTconsin!

Greetings and Happy Summer! I hope these beautiful days include lots of family time, treats, time outside, laughter, and making of fabulous memories.

Since breaking ground in the spring, we’ve enjoyed watching the construction progress of our new Baldwin office! As of mid-summer, the shell of the building is out of the ground, with work being done on structural steel and exterior steel stud walls.  While the wet spring hampered initial construction, crews have been working diligently and we are on track with our initial projected timeline. We plan to open the new office in early 2023, located at intersection of Highway 63 and Cedar Street.

WESTconsin always enjoys supporting different community organizations, and we recently were able to support notable projects to benefit local students. This spring, we awarded fourteen $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors as part of the WESTconsin Scholarship Program. For seniors graduating in 2023 and interested in a WESTconsin scholarship, students must be a member (primary account holder) of WESTconsin Credit Union as of August 31, 2022. We are also proud of our recent donation of $25,000 to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The donation will benefit their new Science and Technology Innovation Center (SciTech). This summer, we will host our fourteenth annual Back to School Drive. Last year, local community partners received a total of 3,450 items along with $3,000, which was collected from members and employees. We hope we’re able to give just as much this year!

Although we’re already into the summer months, it isn’t too late to enjoy all that the season has to offer! If your family is ready for a new or upgraded camper, boat, or a vehicle to pull them with, consider an Express Loan from WESTconsin. You can apply for an Express Loan in person or online in just moments and receive feedback quickly… usually within the same day!

Lastly, I want to remind you of the ways we can help you with your financial needs at WESTconsin. You are always welcome to visit any of our 15 locations and can also call in to our Service Center Monday through Saturday each week. Our Service Center representatives can answer questions and complete many transactions just like you could in office. Both WESTconsin Online and the Mobile App allow you access to your accounts with your computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

As always, if you would like to share your experiences, suggestions, or concerns, I always welcome member feedback. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected]WESTconsincu.org. Thank you to our members for your commitment to WESTconsin, it is our joy to serve you.

Founded in 1939, WESTconsin Credit Union is one of the region's strongest financial services provider. Our history takes us back to primarily serving the Menomonie area agricultural community, then operating as Menomonie Farmers Credit Union. We expanded in membership base over the next several years and merged with other small credit unions in the region. In the summer of 1990, we recognized this growth by changing our name to WESTconsin Credit Union.

WESTconsin Credit Union celebrated our 80th anniversary in 2019. Celebrations took place throughout the year that gave back to the credit union’s agriculture roots by partnering with local agriculture organizations and businesses. Today, our field of membership footprint includes twenty-six counties across west central Wisconsin and east central Minnesota with 15 office locations in Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie, New Richmond, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

The spirit and philosophy of people helping people, guides WESTconsin leaders and encourages our employees to get involved in community and charitable activities and worthwhile causes, including sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism. Throughout 2020-2021, WESTconsin was very proud to support many local initiatives, including a $5,000 pledge to help build a new playground at the Spring Valley Elementary School, a donation to the L.E. Phillips Senior Center in Eau Claire of $10,000, and $45,000 spread throughout the area to local food pantries.

WESTconsin is based in your community, owned by people like you. We seek to enrich members, communities, and employees with the resources and support to achieve financial wellness. While supporting one another, we’re Inspiring Better.
