Additional Online Security Features Available Now

Your security is our top priority!

WESTconsin knows security is a big concern to those using Online and Digital Banking options. We are excited to offer you a new, additional, security method to protect your online banking in just a few simple steps!

When logging onto your WESTconsin Online Account, users are asked for both your password and may be asked to enter a code received via a phone call or text message from WESTconsin Credit Union. Asking a user to provide two or more verification factors to access their information is called a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). MFAs are a very popular and an important security feature when sensitive information is being accessed online.

WESTconsin is pleased to announce that we now have an additional MFA option available to our members. Using a third-party app, either Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, is a great benefit to members for a couple big reasons:

  1. Receiving codes via text message or phone call is less secure than using an authentication app.
  2. You never have to worry about an interruption in text or phone verifications.

To utilize this enhancement, download Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Once you have done this, you can enroll for this additional protection in WESTconsin Online accessing Settings>My Settings>Security Options>Flip Authenticator, switch ON.

Think of these security features in terms of home protection.  A home security system decreases the chance of burglary. Add a large, loud dog and your chance or burglary decreases even further. Hackers, like burglars, will likely move along and look for easier targets the more levels of security you use to protect yourself. We hope you take a moment to download one of these apps and increase your online protection!
